FLORENCE ROSS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Sponsored by Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association 

Florence Ross was a well-respected and beloved member of the local legal community and a member of DPLPA since 1961.  Florence was an avid supporter and advocate for further education. To honor her commitment to the legal field and this association, the scholarship program was renamed the "Florence Ross Scholarship."  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, community service, and financial need.  The number of scholarships awarded is based on the number of qualified candidates each year and the amount available in the scholarship account. Applications are accepted from November 1st through January 20th.  Recipient will be notified in February.  Each March the association hosts a special Scholarship Awards Dinner and invites scholarship recipients to meet Desert Palm LPA members, receive their awards, and share their experiences.  If you would like to donate to the DPLPA Scholarship Program, click 'Donate Today' below.  For more information, please email dplpa.information@gmail.comCLICK HERE for Scholarship Flyer.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for scholarships from DPLPA Applicants must reside in the Coachella Valley. 

Applicants must be enrolled in a college, university, or business school offering a degree or certificate of completion upon graduation for a course of study in the legal field, i.e., paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, law receptionist, court reporter, court clerk, etc. 

All DPLPA applicants must include the following documents with their application:

  • Photo

  • Biographical Letter (Letter should state the reasons why applicants should receive a scholarship)

  • Letters of Recommendation, minimum of 2 (Letter of recommendation should be from someone other than a family member or a member of DPLPA)

  • Unofficial School Transcript (shall be defined as transcripts printed on original school letterhead)

  • Personal Resume (The resume should list applicant’s legal and/or secretarial experience, if any. Resume must include dates of employment, employer name and address, position, and reason for leaving.)

 

DPLPA awards two categories of scholarships to Coachella Valley students:   

  • High School Senior

  • College Student / Career Change Student

[One award is for students going from high school to college or legal vocational school; and the second from college to law school or career change student]
